Holden Beach

This is my Grandpa, Cecil Miller, in front of the house he built at Holden Beach. ( I was in kindergarten at the time. )

Lightest lead

Several times my Dad has asked how I plan to replace the missing pane; I say there's no need of repair. Dad sees a broken window; I see a moment.

What I drive

Handy. I've hauled mulch almost every weekend since I moved to 3709. Yes, that is a green ball on the antenna. My Dad has one. I have one. This is High Point. As for mulch, and though I've lost 20 pounds because if it, I'm about to give in and hire somebody with a dump truck. (Those $2.38 bags of pine bark at Lowes? Forgetaboutit -- half a ton at the recycle center is $12.)

Interruptors

That's Single Pole Switches to you and me and Lowes. Gang of three, no less. While this may be no project of note for some DIYers, playing with electricity in a 50-year-old house brought pause. About 1974 my parents decided to enclose the carport to create a family room (we call it "the den".) In turn, the addition created a bathroom with no exterior window. Installed as a fix for steamy showers was an overhead exhaust fan. The switch for the fan was once installed in the gaping hole in picture one. That misalignment of infrastructure always made me crazy, so I moved the switch down in line with the existing two. Anyhoo, everything works, and it's been three days now and nothing is warm to the touch.

Poop Watch

My pup, Olive, top, and best friend Lucy enjoy the rich flora that would be amazing fall flowers if not so tasty.
